This finely carved whirligig depicts a train conductor with a distinctive handlebar moustache, detailed uniform, and articulated paddles, all retaining their original surfaces. The figure’s expressive carving and strong presence place it among the more compelling examples of American kinetic folk art.

Remarkably well preserved, the work combines sculptural detail with functional design, reflecting both craftsmanship and ingenuity.
