This prancing horse weathervane features a fully moulded, three-dimensional body set above a sheet-metal strip of turf, with finely formed sheet metal details throughout. Attributed to the Boston maker A.L. Jewell, it exemplifies the bold energy and character for which his equestrian forms are known.

Comparable examples are illustrated in major references on American weathervanes and have appeared in notable collections and auctions.
