Height with stand-70 inches, Figure Height-51.5 inches Made for the Cigar Merchant F.R. Rice, who was located at 305 North 4 th St. , St. Louis , MO. under the name "F.R. Rice Mercantile Cigar Co.", this beautiful hand-carved Cigar Store Indian demonstrates the master carving and painting ability of the artists of the Robb workshop. The Indian is ornamented with fanciful outfit, feather headdress, bear claw necklace, bearskin cape, and war club all characteristics associated with the workshop of Samuel Robb. In outstanding original condition, most of the paint on the figure is its original with the exception of some of the olive green used on the armbands, cuffs, belt axe and chest sash. These areas have been spruced-up through the years but still retain very nice early surface. The Indian is complete with its original stand and the details throughout mark this as one of the great examples carved by the Robb workshop.
