Loof (c. 1852-1918) Brooklyn, New York, c. 1880 White pine with original paint 60 x 55 x 12 inches This spirited rearing goat carousel sculpture was reproduced by the United States Postal Service on a 1988 commemorative twenty five cent stamp, part of a block of four celebrating the art of carousel figures. A framed complete block of these stamps accompanies this figure. The painted surface and details are masterfully executed and the goat retains its original glass eyes, brass tacks, molded brass medallions, and iron fittings.
