Copper and sheet metal mane, ears, tail and turf, with original verdigris surface with traces of original sizing. Height of horse 26 in; length of horse: 36 in; overall length: 51 in.

A prancing horse with three-dimensional body and sheet metal mane, ears and tail on a sheet-metal strip of turf, with verdigris copper surface. An exemplary folk art weathervane, the bodies of this equestrian Jewell weathervane are fully moulded with sheet metal ears, mane and tail. Whether represented prancing, as in this example, or leaping, Jewell’s horses demonstrate a striking energy and character typical of this coveted folk artist.
