Set of Six Painted & Decorated Federal Chairs - Sold

Virginia, circa 1830

Overall height – 32 1/2 inches, Seat height – 18 inches

This set of Virginia country chairs are bold in design and feature a beautiful green and yellow painted surface, with polychrome decorations including: the rare decoration of swans drinking from a fountain on the back tablet, and fruit designs on the center tablet. Sets of Southern painted chairs are very rare.
