Oil on canvas, 25 3/8 x 30 3/4 inches, in a gilt frame.
Inscribed on verso: “Painted by W. M. Prior 1st July 1858 / East Boston / Matilda R. Hodgeson age 11 yr 6th August 1858 / Geo. C. Hodgeson, Jr / Ag 7 1st July 1858”
