Probably Rhode Island, circa 1760
Maple, 26 3/4 x 34 x 25 1/4 inches.
The top of the table retains an old worn and patinated surface. The base was previously painted and has been refinished. The toe of one foot is an old restoration, otherwise in a fine state of preservation. Although porringer-top table of this form are well-known, examples like this one, having an elongated octagonal top, are relatively rare. A table of closely related form was formerly in the Tarradash collection, see Northeast Auctions, “New Hampshire Weekend Americana Auction,” August 7, 2005, lot 1334.
