Paint Decorated Turn-Top Lazy Susan Table
Georgia, Mid-19th Century Yellow pine secondary wood 30.5 x 56.5 diameter The round top of ten boards with smaller four-board Lazy Susan, on a blue-painted frame raised on square tapering legs. The brilliant blue base of this table is distinctive and combines with refined proportions to elevate it above other examples of a rare form typically associated with Southern furniture-making. Known at the time as "turn-top tables," this practical form appears in numerous 19th century inventories.
